This 40 hour Yoga Training gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the practice and theory of Pregnancy Yoga. Explore the changes that happen during pregnancy and how yoga can support this wonderful journey.

This course can be taken as a workshop for non-yoga teachers (it is also a wonderful course for pregnant students!) or as a 40 hour Yoga Alliance Continuing Education module for Yoga Teachers. 

This course is 100% online and self-paced. Trainees will receive a manual, gain access to the online platform and move through the content in their own time. Once completed, trainees will submit 2 x assignments. 1 on 1 assignment feedback will be held over zoom.

Although this course is online, students can email / whatsapp with any questions or support they require along the way!

Curriculum

  • Introduction and Overview of Pregnancy

  • Anatomy and Physiology including common complaints during Pregnancy

  • Pregnancy Modifications of common Yoga Poses including Sun Salutations as well as Standing, Balancing and Floor-based Poses

  • Myths and Misconceptions in Pregnancy

  • Restorative Yoga in Pregnancy

  • Using the Wall, Chair and Big Ball in Yoga

  • Sequencing and Teaching Skills

  • Meditation, Mindfulness and Breathwork

  • Ethics and Scope of Practice



 

About your hosts

Tarryn Thomson

Tarryn Thomson is a qualified Occupational Therapist and Yoga Teacher Trainer. She completed her first 200hour Yoga Training in 2016 after graduating from the University of Pretoria in 2015. Tarryn has since completed her 300hour Advanced Training as well as additional trainings in Yin Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga and Aerial Yoga.

Tarryn has been teaching on 200hour and 300hour Trainings since 2019, as well as hosting her own continuous education trainings since 2021.

Jemma-Rae James

Jemma is a Physiotherapist focussed in Sports and Musculoskeletal conditions, with a special interest in Women's Health. She completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree at Tuks followed by two post-graduate qualifications in Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotheraoy.  She has worked in private practice for over 10 years and has gained valuable international working experience in a number of countries (South Africa, Scotland, England, New Zealand and Australia). Jemma is also qualified in reformer pilates and pre-and postnatal exercise. Her passion for the human body, international working experience and personal love for people drive her every day to challenge the gaps in society such as that about exercising during pregnancy.
