Ndivhudzannyi Mphephu
About
In the VhaVenda cultural context, names reflect life purpose, and Ndivhudzannyi is a name given to a child who will contribute to restoring well-being.
Honouring my name and its meaning, I work in community mental health as a Registered Counsellor under the Health Professions Council of South Africa. My profession aims to make mental health and well-being services more available to our diverse South African community.
I am an experienced professional passionate about developing and delivering offerings to support mental health and well-being in our diverse South African community. Over the past eight years, I have enjoyed working in various sectors, including business, education, public health, and NGO settings, with diverse populations, including children and adolescents, mothers and pregnant people, refugees and asylum seekers, people with life-limiting illnesses, and sex workers.
I offer accessible, relevant, and evidence-based services to individuals, families, communities, educational institutions, public health and social development sectors, and businesses and corporate entities to strengthen the integration of quality mental health care and well-being support.
I do this through counselling, facilitation, psychoeducation, training, and consulting. In addition, I do work as a speaker on podcasts, panels, and workshops.
I am thankful that my professional training has exposed me to various counselling modalities and the ability to work across the age or developmental spectrum. As such, I have an array of theories and techniques to draw from to suit the presenting problem and the person involved, including mindfulness and somatic practices, art and creativity, symbolic strategies, psychoeducation, cognitive and behavioural interventions, and indigenous healing arts.
With mental health and well-being increasingly recognised as a public health priority, I provide learning and development opportunities to those in the health, social, education, and well-being professions. I am also passionate about working with people who want to grow as empathic helpers. Therefore, I offer workshops and courses to parents, partners, friends, colleagues, or lay counsellors who want to develop their capacity to provide social support.
I offer talks, workshops, and courses on mental health foundations and first aid; basic counselling skills and counselling modalities; scope of practice; and diversity, equity, and belonging.
Don't hesitate to contact me for a personalised offer to best suit your needs and context. I can create offers for a diverse range of topics.
