7-30 October 2024 | Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 9:00-10:30
Ashtanga Yoga is a practice and philosophy focused on physical, psychological and spiritual health and development. The physical practice consists of a set sequence of postures linked together in a dynamic flow where each movement is synchronized with the flow of the breath.
A regular Ashtanga practice builds physical strength and flexibility, regulates the nervous system and develops mental clarity and resilience. Over time this practice can clear the body and mind from blockages, psychical tensions and limiting habitual patterns, creating a sense of inner freedom, improving our relationships and waking us up to experience life more fully.
The essence of this practice is embodied learning and the only way to truly get to know it is through your own experience.
The aim of this course is to introduce you to this traditional style of yoga and inspire you to build a consistent and sustainable self-practice.
The course includes:
A series of 11 workshops on Mon, Wed & Fri mornings 9:00-10:30 (starting on 7 October). It would be ideal to attend ALL of them, as each workshop builds on the previous one.

About your host:
Eva has been practicing yoga since 2006 and teaching since 2015. Through her extensive travels she has had the privilege to explore a number of different yoga styles and study with many inspirational teachers from around the world, including Richard Freeman, Mary Taylor, Ty Landrum, Petri Räisänen, Dylan Bernstein, Shimon Ben Avi and Cape Town locals Jim Harrington and Michael Schabort.
Eva was first introduced to Ashtanga yoga in 2014 and from her personal experience she truly believes in the healing power of this practice and its potential to bring us into a more honest and harmonious relationship with ourselves and others. She is committed to sharing this practice with integrity and respect to the tradition but free from dogma, hierarchical power dynamics and harsh physical adjustments, which this style of yoga is unfortunately sometimes associated with. Eva sees the student-teacher relationship as one of reciprocal learning and creative collaboration. She supports her students with quiet attentiveness and her gentle, intuitive touch and she holds a space that is non-competitive and welcoming to people of all ages and abilities.
