African Wisdom Workshop

  • The Shala Cape Town Yoga School 15 Wandel St, Gardens, Cape Town, 8001 (map)

A workshop exploring an African Wisdom perspective for personal and global healing, and understanding our own life purpose. The timing of this workshop is specifically chosen to link to the new moon before the summer solstice - imparting the importance of the balancing our energies between new and full moons.

Gogo Khanyakude is a iSangoma and Indigenous Knowledge educator, and we are honoured to host him for this in-person workshop.

* The first half of the workshop will explore, on a theoretical-level, the elemental forces of creation including what this means and how we give them expression, using an African Wisdom perspective.

Earth, water, fire and air each exist both within our own bodies, and within the Earth body. This workshop will draw on these energies to ground and root our self-identity, and our soul purpose here on earth.

* The second half of the workshop will focus on practices and tools that we can use on a daily basis, using the elements that always surround us and are easily available for daily rituals.

We will also explore the intersectional space where African Wisdom and yoga meet, and consider how we can include tools from the African indigenous offerings into our yoga practices. The balance of these elemental forces within our bodies, and within the earth body, can support sustained health on a biological and spiritual level.
