About:

I am a passionate teacher, and believe that my teaching is a work from the heart. My personal 'Journey through Self' started nine years ago when I was in my final year at Stellenbosch University, where I was studying a Bachelor of General Education and specialised in Foundation Phase. I have always been drawn to the healing arts, through movement and music. I have a deep love for traveling to foreign places, where I meet new people and have an opportunity to learn more about their cultures and languages. I have been blessed to travel and teach yoga through exchanges in Costa Rica, Tahiti and neighboring French Polynesian islands, Hawaii Big Island, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India and Nepal.

My first trip to Costa Rica was at the beginning of 2014, I was a traveling teacher and volunteer at a local school. At the time I was living in a Healing Sanctuary. Once I returned to South Africa in 2015, I started my training and I really began my journey of teaching asana, pranayama and meditation classes under the Milkwood trees in Gordon's Bay (my home town of thirty years). I started incorporating art, music, asana, pranayama and meditation into my teaching practice with children in home and school environments. In 2017 I opened my own boutique studio: 'Curative Yoga' was founded in Gordon's Bay. I continued to teach a combination of Hatha/Vinyasa for the youth and a mix of Iyengar with gentle, restorative and therapeutic postures for the elderly.

2019 was a year of travel for me: I returned to Costa Rica after five years and taught at Heart and Flow Yoga, I was a community teacher, workshop and retreat coordinator where I co-hosted Astrology and Yoga workshops for travelers, co-ordinated plant medicine retreats as well as Sound Journeys.
I spontaneously met surfing legend Mark Paarman and was invited to sail on his boat Millennium from Costa Rica to Tahiti with his wife. We spent a month at sea during the Pacific crossing. I was blessed to have sailed all around the French Polynesian islands on Millennium where I taught Yoga on the boat to fellow crew members as therapy and on land for the local community which was such fun. I later traveled to Hawaii where I prepared plant based meals and taught yoga in exchange for the Aloha lifestyle. I moved on to Sri Lanka where I hosted Full Moon Yoga Ceremonies for surfers and fellow travelers on retreat. I later traveled to India as a curriculum developer by curating, designing and creating resources and assessments for Yoga Teacher Trainings.

In 2021, I once again returned to Costa Rica to teach yoga for the Heart and Flow guests at the Lanktuary, as well for day retreats at Casa Mangrove, Casa Chameleon and at Las Catalinas. I am hosting and coordinating a retreat in Costa Rica in July 2022.

Curative Yoga is my personalised style of Yoga which is focused on teaching a sequence that is suited for all levels. My yoga classes are inspired by the ruling planet for the day of the week, and I design each class to be a sacred space that allows movement of energy within the body to realign physically, rejuvenate spiritually and to relax mentally

I look forward to sharing sacred yoga and movement practices with you, and I invite you to enjoy a little touch of magic with me to awaken your senses.
Always Love, Margeaux
