Ayanda Moniwa

About:

Hi! My name is Ayanda, and I am the woman behind Ayoga Studio. I am a 200 hour registered Hatha yoga teacher (and student), from London, now living in KZN. For me, yoga is about creating a safe space to love, accept and honour the body. It is a practice that facilitates freedom, growth and stillness.

I have been practising yoga on and off over the last 7 years, but my yoga journey really began around 4 years ago.
A few years ago, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, which turned my whole world upside down. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune condition caused by an immune response that damages the joints and organ tissues.

In a short few weeks, I found myself unable to get out of bed without taking a concoction of medication. Depression crept up on me, and before I knew it, all I could feel was a numbness which consumed my entire being. And then I found yoga, meditation and Ayurveda…

Through the magic of natural aids, essential oils, movement and a plant based diet, I was able to completely stop taking western medicine (over the counter pain-killers included), and after what felt like forever, live pain free. This is why, today, I am so passionate about this lifestyle. Yoga was a saving grace for me, and I just want to share this beautiful practice with you.

My yoga classes are centred around trust, love, and celebrating the divinity within.
I combine affirmations, mantras, pranayama and, of course, asanas, which will ensure you feel safe, grounded and loved after our sessions end.

Come as you are and meet me on the mat!
Love & Light
