SpiritFest: Bringing Body, Mind & Spirit together in Nature.
It’s that time again, our favourite time. The start of a new year with fresh intentions and high spirits. Summer is in full swing and everyone is spending more time outdoors, connecting to nature and loved ones. It’s that time of year where yoga festivals are on the horizon and we can’t wait to grab our tickets, pack the camping equipment and prepare for an unforgettable weekend away!
SpiritFest is the epitome of “Mind Body Soul”. Running since 2012, this incredible festival retreat gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in an experience that brings together the power of yoga, meditation, dance and community in a majestic setting surrounded by mountains, rivers and trees. This three day escape from the hustle and bustle of life is all about opening the heart and exploring the mind and body to help you experience the profound nourishment of the self, that each of us is capable of creating and living. Whether you’re seeking to play or pray, dance or trance, be in nature or just nurture your being, you’ll soon be making SpiritFest your pilgrimage to South Africa.
This year, SpiritFest will be taking place from 5-8 March at the beautiful Somerset Gift Farm in Swellendam. After a sold out festival in 2018, you do not want to miss this one!
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Some of South Africa’s most wonderful yoga instructors
Beautiful landscape, nature walks and waterfalls.
Acoustic Music and dancing into the evenings
Activity tents with a full schedule of yoga, dance, music, hula hoops, tai chi as well as talkshops.
Food and conscious product vendors (including vegan options)
Children friendly activities to keep the little ones busy!
Each morning gives you the opportunity to start the day with Sadhana. If the idea of chanting your way into the day with a group of conscious human beings as the sun rises over the mountains speaks to your soul, then this special 1.5 hour daily session, that includes 30 minutes of light yoga and 1hrs of deep chanting, is an experience not to be missed. Every hour offers a number of exciting activities and adventures to choose from. Study the schedule to plan your downtime around all that dancing, stretching and exploring great classes, teachers and classes. End your day dancing to live music and DJs before the festival shuts down to recharge for another full day of purpose, passion and play.
SpiritFest attracts a conscious community of individuals, couples and families who want to play, explore, relax and dive deeper in a safe and relaxed, natural and alcohol-free environment. So expect children running and playing out in the open, meditators getting up at the crack of dawn, nature lovers swimming until sunset and yogis stretching their physical and spiritual limits until the stars come out and the music kicks in with blissful beats that will keep you grooving until bedtime.
On top of that, SpiritFest also raises funds to support . local community and animal shelters. They currently support projects: EarthChild, Seva Unite, Rosie’s Soup Kitchen, Animal rescue, etc
FIVE REASONS TO EXPERIENCE SPIRITFEST:
1) EXPLORE NEW FORMS AND STYLES
It’s not often you get to experience so many different styles of yoga, let alone immerse yourself in a festival dedicated to celebrating and exploring different forms of dance, movement, spirituality and body work in one venue, over one weekend. Take advantage. It only happens once every 2 years.
2) CHALLENGE YOURSELF
We spend so much of our lives sticking to the same rules, rituals and routines. If you want to take a break from yourself or forge an entirely new path, this is the time and place to do it. Explore new ideas, push yourself physically and challenge yourself mentally in a safe and supportive environment.
3) LEARN FROM THE MASTERS
Learn from the masters. Be inspired by the teachers. Engage with the teachers. They’re all here and ready to inspire you.
4) MEET LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE
Surround yourself with like-minded people and practitioners and be inspired by a whole new way of seeing and being. It’s all here. Just be open to it.
5) SPEND TIME IN MOTHER NATURE
Sit at the feet of the great teacher herself – mother nature – by taking time out to walk the lands, swim the river and explore the waterfalls before you lie back and gaze up at the stars levitating above the majestic mountains.
